Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) was Founded in 2000, and it is an innovative Christian university, that is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It began as a result of the amalgamation of three different local colleges. The provincial government hired the institution in order for them to grant university-level degrees in the year 1998.

In the Fall of 2008 CMU then became a member of Universities Canada (formerly called AUCC). It was formally supported by Mennonite Church Canada and the Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba.

CMU is a beautiful campus which  consists of a well-maintained buildings, walkways, green spaces, and parking areas. The university provides excellent academic and research facilities which Involves high-tech laboratories, smart classrooms, and resource centers.

The University Library has a rare and unique collection of printed and electronic resources like books, journals, articles, dictionaries, guide books, e-books, e-journals, and databases. These resources are open to students and faculty for reference for learning, teaching, and research purposes.

The university extends spiritual guidance and counselling services to the students who are in need of it. there are other conveniences featured on the campus which include a wellness centre, bookstore, and press facility.

The university offers accommodation to more than 200 students in its two dormitories and apartment-style residence halls. it also provide delicious and nutritious food, beverages are served to the students, staff, and visitors in the Dining Hall.

CMU has varieties of academic programs and a choice of educational settings, which Involves Shaftesbury Campus, Menno Simons College, and a study, service, and travel program which is called Outtatown Discipleship School.

The Menno Simons College functions as a college of CMU gives two majors which are completely integrated into the Bachelor of Arts curriculum at the University of Winnipeg. The Outtatown Discipleship School gives intensive, experiential, cross-cultural, off-campus learning in Canada and Guatemala.

CMU’s Shaftesbury campus has five baccalaureate programs and all baccalaureate programs are created to give students a solid grounding in their chosen areas of specialization, significant depth in biblical and theological studies, contexts for working at integrating faith with all areas of learning.

From the Graduate School of Theology and Ministry, CMU gives a Graduate Certificate in Christian Studies and the Master of Arts, either in Theological Studies or in Christian Ministry and a Master of Divinity. outside this, CMU also gives two additional graduate programs with the collaboration of Eastern Mennonite University, Bluffton College, and Goshen College.

Presently, the university has about 917 students on the roll, which includes 107 international students. The student population of CMU has a percentage of about 70% of learners from Manitoba and 30% from other parts of Canada and also 35 other countries. The students are taught by good and experienced faculty, which involves 40 full-time affiliates and 50 part-time instructors.

Outside this, the university gives various kinds of sports and maintains both men’s and women’s teams known as the Blazers. They participate in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference and various other tournaments where they compete in soccer, volleyball, and basketball.

Canadian Mennonite University Location

Canadian Mennonite University resides in Winnipeg, which is the capital and largest city of the province of Manitoba in Canada. Winnipeg is also known as the “Gateway to the West” and is a railway and transportation zone with a diversified economy.

This city gives a lot of annual festivals, which including the Festival du Voyageur, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Jazz Winnipeg Festival, Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival, and Folklorama.

Canadian Mennonite University Campus

Canadian Mennonite University gives classes in three different settings: The Shaftesbury campus in southwest Winnipeg, At Menno Simons College which is at campus of The University of Winnipeg, and the Outtatown program with sites in Guatemala and Africa.

The University uses modern equipment and facilities, like the Library with a collection of over 120,000 items. The University also makes housing facilities, sports facilities, and health care services available. The lecture halls are fully equipped with modern facilities to increase excellent learning.

Canadian Mennonite University Residing Options

Canadian Mennonite University gives on-campus housing, which Involves apartments, shared dormitory rooms, and single dorm rooms in three different buildings which are all close to a full-service dining hall.

The University residence buildings are – Poetkker Hall, Concord Hall, and Katherine Friesen Apartments.

All of these apartments are well furnished which includes a stove, refrigerator, kitchen table, chairs, sofa, shelves, desks, dressers, and beds.
