0
By Larry Frank on September 19, 2023 Articles, Study in Canada

Canada is undoubtedly one of the best places to study in the world. Studying in Canada comes with a lot of benefits.

Benefits such as a sound educational system in comparison with other good universities around the world.

You get to study in an English environment (or French environment) of a developed country, you’ll enjoy the ease of learning as lecture schedules are designed in such a way that you can work and learn.

In addition to this, Canada is well known for highly reputable universities, this has been proven in several cases for instance in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking, 5 Canadian universities ranked top 100 in the world.

Also, Canadian colleges and universities offer about 15,000 programs giving you a vast number of options to choose from.

The educational system of Universities in Canada makes provision for the development of transferrable skills and mainstream studies. Here’s the best one yet, these programs are made available with a very affordable tuition fee, in fact,  almost free!

Yes, almost, no university in Canada offers totally free tuition but a reduction in cost by either government, the University, or private scholarship.

Some of these scholarships include HEC Montréal scholarships, Fairleigh Dickson’s Scholarship for international students, York University international student Scholarship amongst many others.

Below is a list of 5 tuition-free Universities or 5 universities with scholarship awards as the case may be.

5 Tuition Free Universities in Canada

1. St Mary’s University

St Mary’s University is one that offers a variety of fully-funded scholarships for international students who wish to acquire a degree in any undergraduate program of their choice.

There are about 8 different fully funded scholarships. This scholarship is renewable so long as the student continues to meet up to the renewal requirement.

2. Concordia University

Concordia University is also now among tuition-free Universities in Canada with the introduction of a new fully-funded scholarship called the presidential scholarship.

This scholarship is also for international students who wish to study in Canada and is renewable for up to four years provided the renewal requirements are met.

3. Southern Alberta Institute of Technology

The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology made it a custom to set aside $5 million every year to fund scholarships for international students aspiring to study in Canada. Like the others, it is renewable for four years.

The incoming student must be able to boast of academic excellence, financial needs and must be known to show support in their community.

4. University of Toronto

The University of Toronto also offers scholarships to international students.

However not all are fully funded, some scholarships offered in this university are partially funded. This scholarship is also open to students who are in for degrees of any kind.

Nevertheless, the University of Toronto makes it to this list solely because of the Lester B Pearson scholarship.

This scholarship is fully funded, covers tuition, book expenses, and accommodation for international students who wish to study an undergraduate program.

5. University of Calgary

This institution makes it to the list of tuition-free Universities as it provides both government and individually funded scholarships.

Some are fully funded while some are not. Others come in form of bursaries, financial aids, etc.

In as much as they’re very competitive to attain, this is as close as it gets to having a tuition-free study program in any Canadian University.
