AINP Strategic Recruitment Stream [Update]

0
By Mr. Shedrack on September 19, 2023 Articles, Canada Immigration, Tips, Work in Canada

AINP Strategic Recruitment Stream was terminated on June 14th, 2018.

However, skilled workers or entrepreneurs who wish to have a permanent residence in Alberta may pursue a nomination through the other streams included in AINP.

The AlNP Strategic Recruitment Stream was a collection of immigration streams of the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP).

The provinces of Alberta and Canada operated this program.

The AINP Strategic Recruitment Stream was designed to give permanent residence to foreign nationals with skills in demand in Alberta.

However, the availability of this AINP stream was dependent upon application volumes and labor market needs.

The AINP Strategic Recruitment Immigration Streams

The AINP Strategic Recruitment Stream included the following three immigration streams:

1. Alberta Compulsory and Optional Trades

Alberta Compulsory and Optional Trades was included under the AINP Strategic Recruitment Stream.

It was targeted at foreign people who had the certification to practice their trade in Alberta and had work experience in the province.

Unfortunately, this program has been terminated and no longer accepts new applications.

2. Alberta Engineering Occupations

Alberta Engineering Occupations was also part of the AlNP Strategic Recruitment Stream.

It targeted foreign nationals who had experience working in the engineering sector in Alberta.

This program has been terminated as well.

3. Alberta Post-Graduate Worker

Alberta Post-Graduate Worker was the third part of the AlNP Strategic Recruitment Stream.

It targeted foreign nationals who recently graduated from a post-secondary institution in Alberta and were working in the province at the time of application.

Like the other two, this program has been terminated.

What is the Update on AINP Strategic Recruitment Stream?

If you applied for the AINP Strategic Recruitment Stream, you can get more information on the AINP portal.

There is no official statement from the AINP on whether the AINP Strategic Recruitment Stream will return or not.

However, foreign nationals or skilled workers wishing to migrate to Alberta can apply for other streams included in the AINP, if eligible.

They include,

  • The Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS)
  • The Alberta Express Entry Stream
  • International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream (IGEIS)
  • Self-Employed Farmer Stream
  • Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa Stream

The Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS)

Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS) is available for temporary foreign workers who live and work in Alberta or have a job offer from an Alberta employer in an eligible occupation.

Only Candidates with a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or an accepted LMIA exemption work permit will be considered.

Eligible Candidates can apply using the AINP portal.

What are the Eligible Occupations Under AOS?

Most occupations under National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill levels 0, A, B, C, and D are eligible under the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

The Express Entry Stream

Under this Stream, Alberta nominates a limited number of qualified candidates from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system.

Who are the Qualified Candidates Under Express Entry Stream?

  • Candidates who have shown strong ties with Alberta province.
  • Candidates with the ability to assist the government in economic development
  • International graduates from Canadian post-secondary institutions may also be considered.

Notes:

  • Candidates cannot apply directly; Alberta must nominate them.
  • All nominated candidates will be notified via their Express Entry Profile and invited for an assessment.

Stream For Entrepreneurs

The following streams are for entrepreneurs who plan to live in Alberta and start or buy a business there.

International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream (IGEIS)

IGEIS permits Alberta to nominate qualified international graduates from Alberta post-secondary institutions who are interested in starting a business in Alberta for permanent residence.

Self-Employed Farmer Stream

This stream is specifically for experienced farmers who plan to buy or start a farm in Alberta.

Foreign Graduate Start-up

This stream is for Foreign graduates who want to start innovative businesses in Alberta.
